THE FENCHURCH INSURANCE BROKERS HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) Permission was given for Moulin Booj (IRE), Mesaafi (GB), Cressida Wildes (GB) and Solar Edge (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line, involving Solar Edge (GB), placed second, ridden by Gina Mangan, Moulin Booj (IRE), placed third, ridden by Liam Wright and The Thames Boatman (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Pat Cosgrave.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Solar Edge (GB) and ordered the placings to remain unaltered, as Solar Edge (GB) appeared to be holding Moulin Booj (IRE) with the official distance of a head and considering that the incident occurred shortly before the winning post.
Mangan was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as she allowed her mount to drift left- handed under a right-handed drive without timely and sufficient correction, causing Cosgrave to become short for room and having to take a check and thereafter making contact with Moulin Booj (IRE).
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Diomed Duke (GB), placed fifth, lost its right-hind shoe.
