Inside 1½ furlongs out Welljudged (GB), placed fifth, shifted right-handed when being corrected by its rider from hanging left-handed, at the same time as Donna Nook (GB), placed third, edged left-handed resulting in the two horses giving each other a hefty bump.
After viewing a recording of incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Donna Nook (GB).
The performance of Welljudged (GB), which started favourite and finished fifth of six runners beaten by 7¼ lengths, was considered.
It was noted that the representative of Roger Varian could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer examined Welljudged (GB) post-race and had nothing to report.
