After the second hurdle, a keen running Ambassador (IRE), unplaced, caused Coniston George (IRE), which later fell, to be taken slightly off its intended line, resulting in Blakey Boy (IRE), placed second, to become crowded for room on the rail, the rider to lose his irons, and the gelding to become unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Miss Maverick (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Uttoxeter, on 29 March 2025, where the mare finished fifth of seven runners, beaten by 31 ¾ lengths.
It was noted that Gary Hanmer could offer no explanation for Miss Maverick (GB)’s improved form.
The mare was routine tested.
Following the race, Luke Scott reported that Quick Sharpener (IRE), which was pulled up, weakened quickly climbing the hill, approaching the last hurdle.
