THE CLUB 26 HERITAGE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 2) Permission was given for King Of Light (GB) to be mounted in the chute; for Behike (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post wearing a red hood; for Annaf (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood and for Dubai Bling (IRE), Adrestia (GB), Trefor (IRE), Regal Envoy (IRE), Brosay (GB) and Mesaafi (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of King Of Light (GB), ridden by Harry Vigors and trained by Stuart Williams, which after rearing in the stalls, was consequently slowly away, and remained to the rear of the field, steadily losing ground, and finished last of 15 runners, beaten by 15¼ lengths.
The rider and the trainer’s representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the trainer was interviewed via telephone.
Being a rider under the age of 18, Vigors was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
The rider stated that his instructions were to track the pace and come with a late run.
The trainer stated that the gelding has missed the break in the past, and that he was satisfied with the ride given in the circumstances.
Vigors was suspended for 7 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure his horse was run on its merits having not asked his mount for a meaningful effort for the duration of the race.
