The Raceday Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. H. Hynes, that N.J. Ryan, rider of Mickey Cohen, had weighed in 1.2lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had a drink of water after weighing out which may have explained the discrepancy in weight. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that N.J. Ryan was in breach of Rule 230(iii), and having considered his clean record in this regard, they cautioned him on this occasion.
