The Raceday Stewards interviewed Miss M. Walsh, rider of Captain Porridge, concerning her use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted she was in breach of the whip guidelines. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied the rider was in breach of R10.3(i) (time to respond) and R10.3(g) (frequency) and having considered her record (second offence for frequency) (first offence for time to respond), they suspended her for six racedays
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident on the bend after the winning post on the second circuit involving Politicise, ridden by Mr C.A. Bowman, unplaced, Technology, ridden by Mr R. James, placed fifth, and Mellem, ridden by Mr A.P. Ryan, placed fourth, where it appeared several runners got close together. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards (110 = 12st 4lbs) Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
