THE PINK LADY FIND YOUR FIZZ HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) (GBBPLUS RACE) Permission was given for Epictetus (IRE) and Orchard (FR) to wear a red hood to the start.
Ethan Tindall, the rider of Mwafaq (IRE), drawn 9, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slowly away.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Tindall’s explanation that the blindfold appeared to be caught in the bridle on his first attempt to remove it, before being successfully removed on the second attempt, was noted.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Orchard (FR), ridden by Luke Morris and Wanderlust (FR), placed second, ridden by Tom Queally.
The Stewards considered that the interference was accidental and had not improved Orchard (FR)’s placing as Orchard (FR) had shifted slightly right-handed away from the whip, giving a slight brush to Wanderlust (FR), who was taken slightly off its intended racing line, but the contact was light causing no apparent loss of momentum or ground for Wanderlust (FR), with the winning distance being a head.
Following the race, Ethan Tindall reported that Mwafaq (FR), placed fifth, was slowly away, Pat Cosgrave reported that Kokanee (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Skibo (GB), unplaced, lost its left-hind shoe.
