The Raceday Stewards interviewed Jordan Canavan, rider of Jackmoon (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Jordan Canavan accepted he was in breach of the Regulation as his head was down at that point and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found Jordan Canavan in breach of R.10.3 (d)(hitting his mount after the finish line) and in considering his clean record in this regard they suspended him for two racedays
The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference close to the finish line involving Jackmoon (FR), ridden by Jordan Canavan, placed third, and Smackwater Jack, ridden by E.M. O'Sullivan, placed first, where it appeared the two horses made contact. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Jordan Canavan stated that he felt pressure from his right close to the line .E.M. O'Sullivan stated that his mount drifted left under a righthand drive and felt it was late and very close to the finish line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Smackwater Jack had caused interference to Jackmoon in that he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that E.M. O'Sullivan, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden Carelessly and having considered his clean record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for two racedays
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident after passing the line involving Morell River, ridden by R.A
Doyle, and Smackwater Jack, ridden by E.M. O'Sullivan where it appeared R.A. Doyle purposefully interfered with E.M. O'Sullivan by reaching out and giving him a push. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. R.A
Doyle said he felt pressure from Smartwater Jack as he leaned towards the exit gate and then he said E.M
O'Sullivans saddle had slipped so he went to help him in the saddle. E.M. O'Sullivan said his horse leaned towards the exit gate and his saddle had slipped. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found R.A. Doyle was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden improperly and having considered his clean record in this regard, the Raceday Stewards suspended him for seven racedays
