Having been checked at the start by the Veterinary Surgeon, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held to consider interference after jumping the first fence in the home-straight on the first circuit involving, the winner, Stumps Or Slips (IRE), ridden by Sean Bowen and Tanking Along (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Dylan Johnston.
The interference was found to be accidental as Tanking Along (IRE) made a bad mistake jumping the fence, which caused Johnston to lose his irons and his mount to become out of control and hang badly left-handed, which resulted in Bowen using Stumps Or Slips (IRE) to guide Tanking Along (IRE) to allow both horses to negotiate the next fence.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Leitrim Chief (IRE), placed fifth, was lame on its right-fore.
