com HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) Permission was given for Milford Grange (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
Inside the final 3 furlongs, Thornaby Annie (IRE), unplaced, lugged quickly left-handed giving a bump to Kiss Me My Love (IRE), placed fifth, moving that filly off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approaching the final ½ furlong, Kiss Me My Love (IRE), placed fifth, lugged right-handed causing Thornaby Annie (IRE), unplaced, to become short of room and eased which in turn resulted in Paroda Diva (IRE), unplaced, becoming caught on heels and its rider having to ease, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of KISS MY LOVE (IRE).
The winner, Zermatt Star (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 6 August 2026 where the filly finished tenth of eleven runners, beaten by 12 lengths.
Kaine Wood’s explanation that Zermatt Star (IRE) appeared to benefit from the application of first- time cheekpieces and today’s slower ground, which was officially described as Soft on this occasion was noted.
The filly was routine tested.
Following the race, Rhys Elliott reported that Penny Ghent (GB), unplaced, reared leaving the stalls and was slowly away as a result.
Jack Garritty reported that Hopeful Joy (GB), unplaced, weakened quickly inside the final 2 furlongs and the Veterinary Officer examined the filly post-race and had nothing to report.
