An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 3 furlongs out involving Fortunate Star (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Harry Smith, and Tilsworth Ony Ta (GB), unplaced, ridden by George Wood.
Being a 7Ib Claiming Apprentice, Smith was accompanied in the enquiry a senior rider.
Smith was cautioned for careless riding as he was slow to correct his mount from hanging left-handed carrying Tilsworth Ony Ta (GB) slightly off its intended line.
Just inside the 2-furlong marker, Fortunate Star (IRE), unplaced, shifted left-handed at the same time as Colors Of Freedom (GB), unplaced, edged right-handed causing Tilsworth Ony Ta (GB), unplaced, to become briefly short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Forest Gunner (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 22 September 2025 where the gelding finished eleventh of twelve runners, beaten by 11¾ lengths.
It was noted that the representative of David Evans could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form other than Forest Gunner (IRE) may have benefited from a drop back in trip to 5 furlongs from 6 furlongs on this occasion.
The gelding was routine tested.
