It’s the first time that Tiernan rode for me and he gave him a lovely ride. I told him to try and keep him on the bridle for as long as he could and come with one run. It doesn't always work but he was 130 over fences and won his beginners chase here. He's had a few issues and hasn't been straightforward to train. If you go back and look at his two runs in Thurles, he was fourth to Daddy Long Legs and Asian Master. 113 looked a nice mark over hurdles but it doesn't always work out. We schooled him during the week and he wasn't spending any time in the air, he was very slick. We have options and we'll probably keep him over hurdles for the time being. that was brilliant. He got an awful fall when he was going to win over fences at Leopardstown (in March 2022) and completely lost his confidence. He didn't jump or do anything right for a long time so we ended up giving up running over fences. There wasn't a suitable chase for him until Christmas but it was always the plan to go back over hurdles. He has won five races and Oliver and Marie are fantastic owners who leave me do my own thing - if there is a mistake made, it is due to me. This lad has been on the go along time and I brought him here and thought it might be the last time he'll ever run over a hurdle. He's 12 and it's coming towards the end of the season and I'm not going to run him on very fast ground. I thought he might enjoy today, with a bit of an ease in the ground.
