The Brian McMahon-trained gelding had gone into that contest in good form, having won over hurdles at Listowel on his previous start. Runner-up in a point-to-point earlier in his career, the son of Leading Light deserves another chance to show he is capable of better. Derek O'Connor looks a significant jockey booking in a race such as this. Da Big Fella hasn't won in almost four years but has run some nice races in the interim.
