Jack unfortunately had an accident point to pointing in Dungarvan and while I never knew him, obviously the same has now happened to us. We know what they went through and they know what we’re going through: it means a lot to win for them. It’s a local crowd today, we’ve a lot of family here and the racing community are something else. I’ve had someone looking down on me because the last few weeks I’ve been very very lucky and riding for great people. Alan (O’Sullivan) gave him a cracking ride and this is a very special day for the Tyner family as well, so I’ delighted to be part of it. We thought he might win this race last year. He was just unlucky that day, he made a bad mistake and gave young Paddy Hanlon no chance. It was just one of those things. He is probably getting older and is probably not as quick as he once was. Today, everything was happening too quick. I knew if he could get in among them that all he was going to do was come home. I was afraid they might get away from him. Once he started passing one or two coming up the hill he got competitive. I knew before turning in that he was going to come home, I was kind of hopeful enough. 2m6f is probably his minimum, he probably wants at least three miles. He loves good ground. He is a right horse and has been a right servant. If you had a yard full of him, you'd be flying. The ground was very watered the last day at Wexford, and I don't think he was enjoying jumping on the loose ground. He jumped better today but he's just not the quickest to jump anyway. He is safe but he bumped into one the last day for sure. It's a grand pot to win and he won here at the festival last year as well. He stays and I'd say he needs three miles, and every yard of it. We nearly lost him in Listowel (in September 2024) and he was on three legs for six months afterwards. We've no grand plan with her, we'll pick something out in a couple of weeks. She is probably better over hurdles than she is over fences. She wants smallish fences as she's not in love with them and just jumps a bit to the right. She is an eight-year-old mare and has done a good bit of winning. It’s great to win here today on a local day. He won the last day and he was well in at the weights today so we said we’d give him a go. Cian was patient on him. He jumped his way into it and came home well. He’s definitely improving, before he wasn’t finding much off the bridle but he seems to be staying at it a bit more now. His jumping is really getting slicker. Hopefully there is another good handicap in him, I’ll have to talk to Eddie (Walsh, owner). I used to ride him myself at home and him leaping around every day, but since Jordan arrived into my yard three months ago, he now rides him. I had to give him at least one go in a race. Aintree is left-handed and I think now we are qualified to run in the Foxhunters Chase there. he ran a great race in Fairyhouse for me at the festival meeting at Easter where a horse fell and he got driven out into the next parish. After that I thought 'if I could keep him right'. I thought Philip (Enright, winning jockey) was leaving him with a lot to do but said he thought he had enough in hand to get there and when he went for him, he found a little more. It's a tough battle in that ground but it is loose. I think we'll keep him at the hurdles because he didn't impress me a lot when we tried him over fences and we'll take what comes.
