He won his point to point but was immature and backward and Rob said he has strengthened up well. He is a big horse who is a chaser in the making,. He'll go jumping now, he needs a trip and won his point to point on absolutely bottomless ground. Peter (Tarrant, owner/breeder) is out of the country but we said we'd have one more run in a bumper while there was no Willie Mullins horse in it. This was lovely as, lord have mercy on Peter's father, he was great to me and my father in his time, so it is great to see those colours back in the winner's enclosure. Peter was patient with this horse and had an option to sell but said he'd hold on to him to have some fun. I have been one of the lads’ biggest fans over the years with what they’ve done with all those good horses and, even yesterday, they had a horse (Glen Kiln) finish second in a Grade 1. I have been friends with them and been curious about how they’d done things all my life, so was delighted when Michael asked me to take this horse a couple of months ago. I’m very lucky to have him and not too many have one out of Solerina. She’s a cracking filly who was bred by one of my owners Tommy James and while I previously leased her to a group of lads who then got tired of her, I wouldn't blame them,. I had to take her back myself and I'm delighted she has won as she is from a great family and her half-brother Piccolo Player won in Limerick recently for me, and he is a very good horse. . It is a proper family although I'm not a fan of Sageburg (her sire). She is a cracking little mare so will make a broodmare for somebody. She is difficult to train and to mind but we have great patience, that's one thing I have with horses and I give them every chance. If this mare had been in another yard, she'd have been scrapped long ago. Then his foster mother had bits of problems, it's only now he's growing into a horse. He's a useful horse. He'll go to Listowel now for the winners of one novice. His jumping won the race in Killarney under a brilliant ride from Rachael Blackmore, and Darragh (O’Keeffe) was equally good on him this evening.
