A seven lengths-winner on debut, he finished fourth in a smart race at the Punchestown festival in May. That race’s runner-up was subsequently sold for 410,000 pounds while the recent Royal Bond-winner Koktail Brut was behind him in fifth. Lord Rouge has form on heavy ground, having run well in a Punchestown point-to-point last February. A half-brother to Grade 3 winner Gin On Lime, he has joined top connections and could be smart. The selection’s stablemate Mahon Falls has reasonable form while ex-pointer Time Is A Thief is indeed absent for 637 days and should improve from today’s reappearance.
