Formscan By Alan Magee - SMITHFIELD appeared to handle most types of ground on the Flat, and beat the useful Ted Veale in a Killarney maiden last July. The Jessica Harrington-trained gelding has indicated a modest maiden hurdle success should be within his compass with fair efforts over timber at Gowran Park and Cork. Mags Mullins enjoyed a great time of it at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival meeting, and Galway bumper winner King Of Firth should benefit from an outing there behind better-fancied stablemate Anonis. One of the more interesting runners here is Kandinski. Robert Tyner’s charge beat all bar the great Simonsig on his last start in the valuable point-to-point bumper at the Fairyhouse meeting. However the problem is that was over 20 months ago, and the market should prove informative on the prospects of this point winner.
