He wears his heart on his sleeve, he jumps well, goes out and does his thing. I was only half-watching when we could easily have been brought down and I wasn’t sure if we had at one stage, but the gods were shining on us. Thereafter he looked to travel really well and never missed a beat. Full marks to Tom as well — that’s his first Cheltenham winner and he’s given him a cracking ride. Tom is riding out of his skin at the moment. I’ve been training 22 years and he’s only my third stable jockey. He reminds me of Choc (Robert Thornton) as he has the most laid-back attitude. If he’s nervous, he doesn’t show it. We’ve always trained the good horses this way. I don’t think Voy Por Ustedes or My Way De Solzen came here under-raced and his races have been reasonably spaced out. As I said the other week, he’s just been two or three years in the making. He used to over-race a little bit, but running him in those big handicap hurdles last year was the making of him. People have doubted his jumping, but I’ve never had any worries about it. He’s always had the potential, but these good horses don’t happen overnight. It’s a relief more than anything. It hasn’t really sunk in yet. Me and Danny were over in Sedgefield yesterday and I said to him on the way back that we might have a treble tomorrow. We were laughing about it! It could have come off but Brandt and Danny were okay and that's the main thing. This is a very good horse. We got him through a sale and thought we'd have to pay more for him than we did (50,000euro). It's good to have him back winning again and he could turn out to be a very good staying chaser. . Jordan Gainford would've been riding him but had to ride for Gordon (Elliott, on The Friday Man). He pulled him up in Listowel last week when he felt he'd gone wrong. He did the right thing by him there and it's paid off today. I think we'll go to Cheltenham later this month. He was a big baby last year and I know he the maiden hurdle he won last year wasn't a great race but he disappointed us afterwards. We loved him but I'd say he just wasn't able for what we were doing with him,. He has been a different horse since he came back in and had a lovely run the first day back. He has learned to settle and jump but today's race was only a restricted novice so we'll see where he goes from here. He is definitely a nice horse though, loves that ground and I'm delighted for the owners who are great supporters of the yard. It was a fantastic ride by Brian,. He’s a very tricky horse to ride but Brian knows him well. He just bided his time and came with one run, that was the difference. You need experience in those two-mile handicap chases and he’s built that up. He had good-class bumper form and hurdle form, he’s just a decent horse. I’d imagine his route probably maps itself, all those good handicap chases. Now that he’s settling, he could probably go up in trip. We could look at the Grand Annual with him, I’m not sure at this stage. He’s another one of Aubrey McMahon’s buys, he bought him at the Clipper Logistics dispersal.
