Formscan By Gary Carson - MICKEY THE STEEL is a stone lower than when winning this 12 months ago and looks capable of striking off his current rating after a couple of decent runs. He stayed on to finish fourth at the Curragh six days ago in a strongly run race over this trip and the stiff finish here will help. Top-weight Amicitia won over course and distance early last month and ran a solid race subsequently when third over six at Cork. She went up another 2lb for that effort so it’s no surprise that connections claim off her now. Four-timer course and distance winner Step Back In Time won here a fortnight ago but faces a stiffer task now after an 8lb hike.
