An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong when Amazonian Dream (IRE), placed second, ridden by David Probert, interfered with Gisburn (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Pat Dobbs.
After considering how both runners were travelling in relation to each other prior to the incident, with Amazonian Dream (IRE) coming from behind Gisburn (IRE) and with just under 1 length between them at the line, the Stewards were not satisfied, that on the balance of probabilities, the interference had improved Amazonian Dream (IRE)’s placing and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Amazonian Dream (IRE), who was racing green, lugged sharply left-handed despite Probert’s best efforts to correct the colt, resulting in Gisburn (IRE) having to be steadied off the heels of Amazonian Dream (IRE).
Following the race, David Probert reported that Amazonian Dream (IRE), placed second, ran green.
