N.M. Crosse, rider of Keilah, trained by W. McCreery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received pressure from the outside after three furlongs
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident after approximately three furlongs involving Nocturnal, ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed second, Keilah, ridden by N.M. Crosse, placed sixth, Smaoineamh Sile (GB), ridden by R
Whearty, placed fourth, and Purple Sky, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed first, where it appeared Keilah suffered interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. N.M. Crosse stated that he received pressure from the outside and made contact with the rail. R. Whearty stated that he received slight pressure from his outside. G.F
Carroll stated that his mount was running free and he shouted at D.P. McDonagh to come across him to get cover
D.P. McDonagh stated that he received a shout to come across but was unaware of the horse down the rail. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found D.P. McDonagh was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his clean record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for one raceday. When considering a penalty, the Raceday Stewards took into account that D.P. McDonagh was invited in. However, they felt that the responsibility to allow enough space lay with him and therfore felt that the one day suspension was appropriate
