The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Smaoineamh Sile (GB), trained by John C
McConnell, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be coughing post race
K.G. Kennedy, rider of May Night (GB), trained by S.M.Duffy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount took a check turning in
J.J.G. Ryan, rider of Churchill Gale, trained by T.G.McCourt, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right throughout
N.M. Crosse, rider of Tall River, trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped right from the gates
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident turning in involving May Night (GB), ridden by K.G. Kennedy, unplaced, and Cabot Sq, ridden by C.D. Hayes, unplaced, where it appeared May Night had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. K. G. Kennedy stated that he was outpaced throughout and starting to stay on when he ran up on heels and had to check. C. D. Hayes stated that his race was run and he was trying to hold his mount together as it retreated. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action
The Raceday Stewards interviewed D.J. O'Connor, rider of El Bello (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the losing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that D. J. O'Connor was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g (excessive frequency) and having considered his record in this regard (third offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended D. J. O'Connor for eight racedays. D. J. O'Connor was accompanied at this enquiry by Mr. Ger Flynn
