The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Matthew J. Smith, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Sarmiento Power, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Matthew J. Smith stated that his charge had a break and first time application of blinkers may have brought about the apparent improvement in form today
Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the content of the report
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Ms Messi, ridden by D. Browne McMonagle, unplaced and Captain Hanley, ridden by S. Foley, placed second, where it appeared that contact was made between the two horses. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. Browne McMonagle stated that he was staying on when he felt pressure from Captain Hanley and his filly became unbalanced momentarily. S
Foley stated that his mount ran up onto the back of heels, which caused him to make contact with Ms Messi for a stride. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found S. Foley, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (third offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended him for eight racedays
Robert Whearty, rider of Tomahawk King, trained by Thomas Coyle, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped slowly away from the starting stalls
Nicola Burns, rider of Sporting Aclaim (GB), trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that her mount jumped slowly away from the starting stalls
