THE MIDNITE ARE UPPING THE BETTING GAME HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) Permission was given for Desiderata (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
The Starter reported that Glenridding (GB) refused to enter the stalls and was withdrawn at 8:31pm.
Ewan Whillans was informed that as it was the third occasion within the previous 12 months the gelding had been reported, Glenridding (GB) would not be able to have a stalls test for 6 months.
An enquiry was held to consider two incidents interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Virtual Hug (IRE), ridden by Kieran O’Neill, Bigz Belief (IRE), placed second, ridden by Gina Mangan, and El Ghaawy (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Hollie Doyle.
In the first incident, the interference was found to be accidental in that Bigz Belief (IRE) lugged slightly right-handed before being corrected by Mangan making light contact with El Ghaawy (GB) briefly unbalancing that runner.
In the second incident, the interference was also found to be accidental in that Virtual Hug (IRE) lugged quickly left-handed before being corrected by O’Neill causing Doyle to have to take a check on El Ghaawy (GB).
