THE FESTIVE FIXTURES AT SOUTHWELL RACECOURSE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) Permission was given for Volto Di Medusa (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and to go early to post, for Aspull (GB) to go early to post, for Relevant Range (IRE) to go early to post and to wear a red hood to the start and for Just Typical (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
Cieren Fallon, the rider of Volto Di Medusa (IRE), drawn 6, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slowly away.
Fallon’s explanation that he missed the blindfold on the first attempt and therefore required a second attempt, was noted.
Approximately 1 ½ furlong out, Aim For The Bull (IRE), unplaced, drifted slightly right-handed briefly inconviencing Relevant Range (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Rusheen Boy (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Yarmouth on 28 July 2026 where the gelding finished fifth of nine runners, beaten by 8 ½ lengths.
Julia Birkett’s explanation that Rusheen Boy (GB) had appreciated a return to an all-weather surface on this occasion was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Elle-May Croot reported that Relevant Range (IRE), unplaced, ran too freely.
