D.P. McDonogh, rider of Desmond Castle, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was hampered by the fallers and had not much room in the straight
The Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Desmond Castle, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, and trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien. Evidence was heard from the rider and the Authorised Representative for the trainer concerned. D.P. McDonogh stated that his mount is not straight forward and wore first time cheekpieces today. He added that his instructions were to get cover and come with a late run. He further added that during the race his mount was hampered by the fallers and also interfered with in the straight. Tina Evans, Authorised Representative for Joseph Patrick O'Brien confirmed the instructions given and expressed her satisfaction with the ride. The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Desmond Castle had a slight wound to its right hind but was otherwise post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanations given and took no further action
The Raceday Stewards enquired from Nicola Burns rider of Woodshaw Whisper, who fell on the flat in this race, and W.J. Lee rider of Heishybrid, who appeared to be brought down in the same incident. Nicola Burns reported that her mount was running very keen and sustained an injury and fell independently of any other horse. W.J. Lee confirmed that his mount was hampered by the faller which brought his mount down. Having considered the reports and viewed a recording of the race, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
