Inside the final ½ furlong, Mudamer (IRE), placed fourth, lugged left-handed and slightly inconvenienced a weakening Bajan Bandit (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Mudamer (IRE).
Billy Garritty, the rider of Mudamer (IRE), placed fourth, had appeared to stop riding shortly before the winning post.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Garritty’s explanation that he had not stopped riding and was always going forward with the momentum of his horse, which had come to the end of its run, and that he was confident that he had obtained the best possible placing under the circumstances, was noted.
