THE CHRISTMAS PARTIES AT WESTERN HOUSE HOTEL HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) Permission was given for Masai Angel (FR) to be led early to post; for Taaklam (IRE) and Lanarra (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
The Starter reported that Ukiyo (IRE), ridden by M P Sheehy and trained by Andrew Kinirons had arrived late at the start.
The Starters, the Steward, the rider and the representative of Andrew Kinirons were interviewed.
Mr Kinirons' Representative explained that, as Ukiyo (IRE) can be headstrong going to post, on instruction from the Trainer, had requested permission for it to go to post at the rear of the field.
It was explained to the Representative that permission could not be granted to go down last, but if Ukiyo (IRE) happened to be last leaving the parade ring Mr Sheehy must tag on to the horse in front and must not arrive at the start late.
Mr Sheehy explained that he had done this but, on entering the track the horse in front had gone off fast thus leaving him detached but, as soon as he felt he had full control of Ukiyo (IRE), he broke into a canter.
Having heard their evidence the Stewards reminded Mr Sheehy of his responsibility to arrive at the start on time and advised that the mare should, in the future, go early to post.
