Myself and Kieren went through the races and had a good old chat about it and we decided to hang on to him for as long as we can. He has a turn of foot and it’s an easy finish here from the last to the line. He got beat a couple of places where he was maybe in front too soon. We were a little bit worried about the ground. The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after turning into the home straight involving Oakley (GER), ridden by D.E. Mullins, placed third, Woodford Warrior, ridden by C.D Smithers, unplaced, and Bhean Saibhre, ridden by P.K. Donovan, unplaced, where it appeared an incident may have occured. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. P.K. Donovan stated that he was beginning to retreat when it got tight as the runners passed. D.E. Mullins stated that as he went to move into the gap his mount leaned left. C.D. Smithers stated that his mount leaned right as he passed the horse on his inside. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 0-100 Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
