He literally couldn't walk on soft ground. We did expect him to come on from the last day where there was marked improvement. We would have had Discorama in Andrew Gemmell's colours as well, he was only beaten in a photo finish in the four miler at Cheltenham and he went on to run very well in the Aintree National. The Raceday Stewards interviewed P. Cleary, rider of Voice Of Reason, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the Whip Regulation and stated that it was due to a lack of experience. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Raceday Stewards that there were signs of a low-level mark on the offside of the horse and forwarded photographic evidence of same. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that P. Cleary was in breach of R.10.3(b) (unnecessary use when out of contention) and having considered his record in this regard (first offence), they suspended him for two racedays
With regards to the mark which The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer confirmed faded after a short period of time, and the manner in which the whip was used (one strike on the offside) the Raceday Stewards took no further action.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 0-100 Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won. Riders - Professional & Claiming Professional Riders who have not ridden more than 15 N.H. winners from 5th May, 2024 to 1st May, 2025 inclusive.
