He’s cool, doesn’t get overexcited so you wouldn’t rule it out. I think a better gallop would suit him, but he did well there off slow fractions. When he turned in I thought he would get swallowed up, but he’s not a slow horse either. He was a bit of a fool as a younger horse, but he’s grown and he’s matured. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Hiddenvalley Lake, trained by Henry de Bromhead, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Maxxum, ridden by Sam Ewing, placed sixth, and Rocky's Diamond, ridden by S. Fitzgerald, placed first, where it appeared Rocky's Diamond drifted across into Maxxum. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Sam Ewing stated that his race was run when he received interference. S. Fitzgerald stated that his mount was green and drifted right but that he should have done more to correct it. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found S. Fitzgerald was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (second offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended S. Fitzgerald for four racedays
Paul John Gilligan, trainer of Buddy One, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge made an abnormal respiratory noise in running.
