The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident turning into the straight involving Opera Point, ridden by J
Aherne, placed fifth, Ellaat (GB), ridden by P. Byrnes, placed first, Connors Cross, ridden by Kevin A Murphy, placed second, and Jack Du Large (FR), ridden by D.J Gilligan, placed third where it appeared interference occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J. Aherne said he received pressure from both sides. P
Byrnes said he received contact from his inside but felt he kept his line. Kevin A. Murphy said he kept his line and wasn't aware of the interference behind him. D.J. Gilligan said there was a gap for him when he made his maneuvre but he didn't have the horse to go through it. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found P. Byrnes was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his clean record in this regard, the Raceday Stewards suspended him for two racedays.
