Permission was given for Art Patron (GB) to wear a red hood to the start and for Larchill Lass (GB) to go early to post.
Hector Crouch who had been declared to ride Larchill Lass (GB), trained by Michael and David Easterby, had refused to do so after weighing out.
The rider was interviewed.
Crouch explained that having originally dismounted the filly due to her behaviour and then having given Larchill Lass (GB) several opportunities to go to post after being unseated on multiple occasions, the filly was still misbehaving and very reluctant to go forward.
For these reasons, Crouch indicated that he had become concerned for his and the filly’s safety and was not prepared to ride Larchill Lass (GB) due to its behaviour.
His explanation was accepted.
Following the race, James Sullivan reported that Cushty (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed in the home straight.
