The Andy Slattery-trained gelding had Frank Pickle and No More Porter behind when fourth in a similar handicap won by Sonoran (first reserve here) at Navan earlier this month. Motta Alta was placed at the Galway Festival on her first start for current connections and should go well if staying this extra furlong, while Sagasti opened her account at Roscommon last month and Colin Keane is again in the saddle. Follow Me drops back in trip and is another to consider.

It’s more of a relief than anything else. It’s been a while coming and unfortunately horses like him tend to get a reputation maybe for being ungenuine and it wouldn’t be well deserved in his case. He’s been second five times and third and fourth another four times, I think. We were just wondering if it was ever going to happen. We’ve employed a little bit more positive tactics with him. We did in Leopardstown the last day but he just hit a soft patch of ground about half-a-furlong from home and it stopped him in his tracks. The ground was beautiful here today and he did it handy enough in the end.

He's a fair horse, everything went wrong that could go wrong and he still weaved his way through. Three down I was like 'oh no', it was like watching a horror movie. Billy was so cool on him, he got his spots and got out. It's onwards and upwards with him, it's exciting to have him. They are two lovely horses (Dance Night Andday who won yesterday) that have won this weekend. They both worked on Tuesday morning and you'd think coming here that both of them would run well, but you'd hardly think on Guineas weekend both of them would win. Tom Malone bought him in France and it was a great buy for Amanda (Torrens). Unfortunately, she couldn't be here today, she had to go to the north for another engagement. She was roaring the phone down and she's delighted. We'll see what the handicapper does, he's 93 today and, if there was another handicap on Derby weekend that we could eke out of him, that's a possibility. He's very versatile ground-wise and it's just lovely to have a good horse. He's a big horse with loads of scope. When he came off the lorry to us, and given his two-year-old form, he came off like a big scopey horse and not a horse that was all about two. He's simple enough at home, likes his routine. I feel sorry for Shane Foley as he's ridden all his work and won his maiden on him. He was mad to ride him but had to ride for Jessie (Harrington) and then that horse (Matter Of Fact) was taken out. He is Shane's ride.

He's been running over one-mile-four, one-mile two. We worked him in the Curragh last week and, he worked so well. Ben just said don't be afraid to come back in trip because he's got tons of speed. He's relaxed now cause he used to not relax. Now that he's relaxed you can actually do something. At this stage I think we can go anywhere with him the way the horse is. Well, maybe not a wee tight track because he is a very good mover with a big stride. Now that he's settled in himself, he's easy to ride. Ben does a great job on him. And the owners are brilliant. He was very good on him. He doesn't usually back up his races and I took a chance after the other day in Listowel. Fair play to Ronny (Whelan), he didn't abuse him the other day after his chance was gone. He didn't have a hard race and came home and grubbed up well. That was a big factor to running him again. . He never runs a bad race here, it was probably my mistake going to Listowel. It's worked out now so it's not too bad. . He's been a bit unlucky and hasn't won in a few years, since we bought him. He's been second in a Galway Mile and in three or four good premier handicaps. . He's a very good horse in those big handicaps when they go fast. They went good and fast today, he hit a bit of a flat spot in the middle but he stays galloping. . He's well handicapped if we can get another pot somewhere. There is a race on the last day of the year at Leopardstown but he doesn't want it very soft either.

I thought he was a bit hard giving him 8lb for winning the last day. He got handicapped last year when he was running too free in his races but he’s settling better. He won the Apprentice Derby for us with Paddy on him as well. Paddy is local to us in Letterkenny and we like to keep it local. Luke McAteer has rode for us as well,. This is a great course. All things being well he runs again at the Curragh on Tuesday and then we’ll put him away until next year. He’ll get his holidays as he doesn’t handle the all-weather. That’s our fourth winner this year and we’ve had six seconds and three or four thirds as well from six horses. It’s a nice enough strike rate and we’ve a couple of nice horses. They’ve been going well. We’re hoping to go to the sales now in Newmarket and stock up to keep the show going.

You'd nearly think it was easy!. He's a great honest horse and he loved the ground. Terry gave him a great ride and he had him in the right place all the way. The instructions he got were when he got to the top bend, take it up. Away he went. He's very adaptable and a good honest horse. He wants to win, that's the main thing. He probably will (get more hurdle opportunities). Hopefully, the handicapper doesn't go mad now. When he gets those conditions in those types of races, he's an honest horse.
