Formscan By Alan Magee - PRESENTING PERCY is taken to continue his love affair with the Cheltenham Festival and score here for the third successive year in the blue riband of jump racing. Previously successful in the Pertemps Final and the RSA Chase, the eight-year-old has not been given a traditional preparation as his only run since that RSA win came when landing the Galmoy Hurdle for the second successive year at Gowran Park in January. However many questioned his unorthodox route for a novice to Cheltenham last year which didn’t do any harm, and the recent rain just adds to confidence for this strong stayer. Stamina won the day for Native River when out-pointing Might Bite up the final hill 12 months ago and he deserves plenty of respect, while Anibale Fly was a fine third last year and has been given a nice quiet preparation. Bellshill may prove the pick of Willie Mullins’ quartet. This race is one of the few omissions from the champion trainer’s illustrious CV having saddled the runner-up six times, and Bellshill is another proven stayer having run a cracker under a big weight in the Irish National last year. The King’s Theatre gelding comes here off the back of a Grade 1 win in the Unibet Irish Gold Cup. Al Boum Photo, Kemboy and Invitation Only are other progressive contenders from Closutton, while Clan Des Obeaux has improved in leaps and bounds this season and took his place at the top table with an impressive victory in the King George. He’s certainly classy enough and looks sure to go close if seeing out the extra distance.
For 5yo+ who are allotted a rating of 130 or more by the BHA Head of Handicapping following a review of the horses entered and after taking account of races run up to and including the day prior to confirmation. Horses who are not qualified for a rating in GB, IRE or FR may also be entered & such horses may be eligible providing the Handicapper is satisfied that the horse's racecourse performances up to and including the day prior to confirmation would merit a minimum rating of 130 (the decision of the BHA Head of Handicapping shall be final).Weights - 5yo 11st 8lb, 6yo+ 11st 10lb.Allowances - Mares 7lb
