Formscan - Teahupoo comfortably justified favouritism 12 months ago and has to be respected as he bids to defend his crown. However, he was readily swept aside by Lossiemouth on his first and only outing of the current campaign at Fairyhouse in December and it could be worth taking him on. Home By The Lee has looked a rejuvenated character this term, winning the Lismullen and Savills Hurdle, and he should be heavily involved if on another going day, while the form of The Wallpark's handicap victory here in October gives him a chance. Gowel Road never seems to run a bad race and merits consideration, as do Bob Olinger and Rocky's Diamond. The vote, however, goes to LUCKY PLACE. He caught the eye when a staying-on fourth in last season's Coral Cup, particularly as the Nicky Henderson stable was under a cloud at the time, and he has taken a step forward this term, winning at Ascot and on New Year's Day here. With this extra yardage expected to unlock further improvement, he is fancied to go very close.

Quotes on Bob Olinger (IRE)
I'm delighted. You know where we hold him, he's one of the best horses I've ever trained. Last year was tough, but it's lovely to see him back. He was brilliant and Rachael was super on him, she gave him a brilliant ride. There are a lot of people to thank but I have to mention Robert Power and Brian (Acheson). We stopped with him last January and Robbie has done a lot of work with him during the summer and into this season. He came down to us looking amazing. There are a lot of people to thank, the team at home, but Robbie stands out for all the work he's done with him. We better ask him what he was doing and start doing it with all of them!. He stayed at it really well. The way he burst through and then I thought 'oh no it's the same as last year when Zanahiyr came back at him'. I thought we were in trouble there, obviously Zanahiyr picked up and we were a bit slow at the last. It was lovely to see, he's a real good horse and it's nice to see him hopefully starting to come back. It was a tough race, his first run since January. After Bob Olinger (IRE) finished 1st at Navan on Sat, 18th Nov 2023 2m 4f Hurdle Soft to Heavy

Quotes on Buddy One (IRE)
He jumped great, he was clever and shortened when he had to,. I was delighted with him the whole way and Jack was grand on him, he didn't panic at any stage and let him pop. He winged a couple of fences. I'd say he gave a heave going to the second last but then class just pulled him through. He winged the last. I think he's only about 70 or 75 percent fit so he's going to come on a lot from that. It was a lovely opportunity to start him off over fences. Where we go from here, I don't know yet but obviously our main aim is to try and get back to Cheltenham. We won't over-race him but we'll get some good races into him. He'll definitely face stiffer opposition through the winter but that was nice, a lovely experience for him and especially here at home next door to us. The ground is in absolutely fantastic conditions. It's lovely, a three-runner race at home, but I'm glad it's over with in one way. When you've a horse like this and he's your best horse, and he's owned by very good owners, you just want to get this out of the way and progress from here and see where he brings us. I was only looking at today and today's opportunity was lovely for him. He'll get another before he goes back to Cheltenham in November. I'd like to keep it local and keep him off the truck, keep the travelling limit. I'm not sure if there's a race here later in the month but if there is he'll more than likely come back here. After Buddy One (IRE) finished 1st at Galway on Tue, 8th Oct 2024 2m 6f Chase Good

Quotes on Franciscan Rock (IRE)
My horses were just arse-ways for six to 12 months, but hopefully have turned the corner now. I don't know what it was, but they just weren't finishing their races although some weren't any good. We had to clean out the whole place, changed water pots - did everything possible. Franciscan Rock had some good form and there were no slouches for today's four-horse race - any of the four could have won. He is qualified for the Pertemps (at Cheltenham), but a lot of water has to flow under the bridge first. I'll give him a break now. After Franciscan Rock (IRE) finished 1st at Clonmel on Tue, 3rd Dec 2024 3m Hurdle Yielding

Quotes on Home By The Lee (IRE)
He ran well in the race the last couple of years and he was a good bit better off at the weights this year. It is very much his first run of the year, but I thought he really went through the race well and jumped well. Danny was impressed with him. I couldn't be happier. We always keep him fresh, so we will wait for Christmas (Hurdle at Leopardstown) now and then he will go from Christmas to Cheltenham. Quotes on Monmiral (FR)
A couple have run ordinary the last couple of days, but it’s tough here and they basically weren’t good enough on the day. I thought Ginny’s Destiny would win today and he ran a blinder, and this horse has loads of ability. We’ve been trying to make a chaser out of him, he didn’t like it and I just thought I’d qualify for him for this race at Chepstow a couple of weeks ago and he actually needed the run that day. I thought he’d run OK today, I didn’t necessarily expect him to win. I told Harry to give him plenty of space as he’s a bit timid and doesn’t like to be boxed in and he gave him a beautiful ride. He’s had loads of problems and didn’t want to jump fences. Today worked out really well. Whether the blinkers made a difference or not I don’t know, but he’s obviously come back to himself a little bit. After Monmiral (FR) finished 1st at Cheltenham on Thu, 14th Mar 2024 2m 7f Hcap Hurdle Soft

Quotes on Mystical Power (IRE)
Mystical Power showed resilience and toughness and he's been improving all season. I didn't think we had much chance at the second last and Mark said he was going as fast as he could coming around the last bend. The race turned into a staying race with the other two protagonists (Firefox and Slade Steel) playing their cards going to the last. They were flat out and then he just outstayed them with a good jump at the last. It's fantastic that he's progressed as the season has gone on and I think Annie Power is coming out in him. She showed plenty of ability but he didn't show any ability early. When he was a three-year-old he didn't show me much ability and at the end of his four-year-old year he started to show a little bit. After Mystical Power (IRE) finished 1st at Punchestown on Tue, 30th Apr 2024 2m Hurdle Yielding

Quotes on Rocky's Diamond (IRE)
He’s only five, clear winded, great heart and stays forever — a brilliant horse. He has an entry in the Stayers Hurdle. He’s cool, doesn’t get overexcited so you wouldn’t rule it out. I think a better gallop would suit him, but he did well there off slow fractions. When he turned in I thought he would get swallowed up, but he’s not a slow horse either. He was a bit of a fool as a younger horse, but he’s grown and he’s matured. He does things easily at home, so it’s hard to know how good he’s going to be. He’s light-framed so we don’t kill him. Hopefully he’ll keep improving. After Rocky's Diamond (IRE) finished 1st at Gowran Park on Thu, 23rd Jan 2025 3m Hurdle Soft to Heavy

He is really after stamping his authority on the staying division. This lad is brilliant. You can go wherever you want on him. You can make a move and go forward on him without lighting him up or anything. It was great for the horse and great for Jack, he has a big battle and it's going to be a long tough week.
