Permission was given for Dashing Harry (GB) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute and for ZIGGY’S ARIEL (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Permission was also given for Until Dawn (IRE) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving Imperial Guard (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Sean Kirrane; ZIGGY’S CONDOR (IRE), placed third, ridden by Ethan Tindall and Scarboroughwarning (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Luke Morris.
Kirrane was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to move left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of ZIGGY’S CONDOR (IRE) moving Tindall off his intended line and causing him to steady, which in turn resulted in Morris checking Scarboroughwarning (GB) on the rail when short of racing room.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 1 furlong out involving Imperial Guard (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Sean Kirrane; ZIGGY’S CONDOR (IRE), placed third, ridden by Ethan Tindall; ZIGGY’S ARIEL (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Hollie Doyle; the winner Mae Amor (IRE), ridden by Mark Winn and SCARBBOROUGHWARNING, placed fifth, ridden by Luke Morris.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Tindall was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
The interference was found to be accidental as Tindall had presented ZIGGY’S CONDOR (IRE) towards a narrow but legitimate gap between Imperial Guard (IRE) and ZIGGY’S ARIEL (IRE), before establishing his position between those two runners, whereupon ZIGGY’S ARIEL (IRE) then shifted marginally left-handed and leant into ZIGGY’S CONDOR (IRE) leaving all three horses racing very tight to each other.
A short distance later Imperial Guard (IRE) had edged right-handed into the whip initially carrying both ZIGGY’S CONDOR (IRE) and ZIGGY’S ARIEL (IRE) off their intended lines, before once Imperial Guard (IRE) straightened up ZIGGY’S CONDOR (IRE) appeared to hang right-handed away of its own accord, possibly due to Kirrane’s whip being waved near its eye-line and resulted in ZIGGY’S ARIEL (IRE) being hampered before Doyle had to take a substantial check on the filly when making contact with the hindquarters of Mae Amor (IRE) which itself had been angled slightly left by Winn.
SCARBBOROUGHWARNING, was found to have been denied clear running for some distance, as opposed to suffering interference in this incident.
Following the race, Barry McHugh reported that Until Dawn (IRE), unplaced, hung badly right-handed and became unsteerable from 4 furlongs out and Sean Kirrane reported that Imperial Guard (IRE), unplaced, hung right-handed.
