THE EVERY RACE LIVE ON RACING TV HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 3) Permission was given for Tatterstall (IRE) to go early wearing a red hood to the start; for Kinetic Force (GB) to go early to the start; for Vantheman (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
Shane Gray, the rider of Vantheman (IRE), drawn 1, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slow to start.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, the Stewards noted Gray’s explanation that on first attempt to remove the blindfold, it had gotten stuck in the blinkers before successfully being removed on the second attempt however, the gelding was slowly away as a result losing many lengths and all chances to be competitive.
Approaching the line, Brazen Bolt (GB), placed second, shifted slightly left-handed causing American Bay (GB), placed fifth, to become briefly short of room.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Brazen Bolt (GB).
Following the race, Faye McManoman reported that Squealer (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away.
