Permission was given for Seven Questions (IRE) to wear to go early to post wearing a red hood, for Vintage Clarets (GB) to be mounted in the chute, for Regal Envoy (IRE) to wear a red hood to post, for Toca Madera (IRE) to early to post wearing a red hood, for Dream Composer (FR) to be mounted in the chute, and for Rosario (IRE) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
It was noted that the rider of Chipstead (GB), drawn 5, removed the blind slightly early resulting in the gelding making contact with the front of the stalls prior to the start being effected causing it to be slowly away.
Suraj Narredu, the rider of Rosario (IRE), drawn 12, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slow to start.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Narredu explained that he was slow to remove the blind as he is used to the process of a Stalls Handler removing the blind when riding in India; his explanation was noted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Chipstead (GB), unplaced, found the gelding had bled from the nose but was unable to ascertain whether this was as a result of Chipstead (GB) hitting its head in the stalls.
