Permission was given for Curious Rover (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post, wearing a red hood; for Tatterstall (IRE) to go early to post, wearing a red hood; for Mon Na Slieve (IRE) and Tees Spirit (GB) to both go early to post; for Roman Dragon (GB) and Trefor (IRE) to both wear a red hood to post.
Approaching the final furlong, Bergerac (IRE), unplaced, hung quickly left-handed, at the same time as Spring Is Sprung (FR), unplaced, shifted marginally right-handed, causing Brazen Bolt (GB), unplaced, to become short of room and the rider having to take out, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final ½ furlong involving Air Force One (IRE), placed third, ridden by P J McDonald and Azure Angel (GB), unplaced, ridden by Callum Rodriguez.
McDonald was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed without sufficient correction, carrying Rodriguez off his line and having to take a check.
The performance of Spring Is Sprung (FR), which finished eighteenth of twenty runners, was considered.
Paul Midgley could offer no further explanation for the gelding’s performance other than Jason Hart reported that Spring Is Sprung (FR) hung right-handed throughout.
Spring Is Sprung (FR) was routine tested.
Following the race, Paul Mulrennan reported that Jordan Electrics (GB), unplaced, was denied a clear run for an extended distance approximately 2 furlongs from the line; Callum Rodriguez reported that Azure Angel (GB), unplaced, suffered interference approximately ½ a furlong from the line; Warren Fentiman reported that Brazen Bolt (GB), unplaced, suffered interference approaching the final furlong; and Hollie Doyle reported that Cuban Grey (GB), unplaced, was never travelling.
