The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Stolen Moment, ridden by Miss S. Ahern, and trained by Sean Aherne. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Miss Ahern, stated that her instructions were to take her time and get her horse home, the ground was an unknown and she held her up and gave her plenty of light. In the race itself, her mount jumped well, better than expected, she jumped the last two well and finished out her race well. Sean Aherne confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride given
He stated that this is a small mare and he wanted her to come home. He was very satisfied to finish second and he felt if the rider went for her sooner she wouldn't have come home as well. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Stolen Moment was post race normal
Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered but advised Miss Ahern to be seen to make a greater effort in similar circumstances in future.
