THE bet365 SUMMER CUP HANDICAP STEEPLE CHASE (CLASS 2) (GBB RACE) Permission was given for Twig (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
On reviewing the first two false starts the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
However, the Starters reported that Jonjo O’Neill Jr, the rider of Peaky Boy (IRE), Gavin Sheehan, the rider of Regarde (IRE) and Mr Lucas Murphy, the rider of Grand Clermont (FR), had failed to adhere to the standing start on the third attempt at starting the race, thereby causing a false start.
Being a 7lb claiming amateur, Mr Murphy was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
The riders and the Starter were interviewed, and recordings of the incident were shown.
The three riders were suspended for 1 day for misconduct at the Start.
At the first fence, Queensbury Boy (IRE), unplaced, baulked on take-off, which resulted in Hang In There (IRE), which was pulled up and Samuel Spade (GER), placed fifth, being hampered on landing, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
