He’s a tricky horse at times but he actually ran a cracker in the charity race last time and I think it helped him an awful lot, he got a bit of confidence out of it and he’s been in super form at home. You can never be confident enough to actually say today is the day. I’m delighted, I’m delighted Paddy rode him and for everyone involved. I was hopeful but lightning doesn’t strike twice. I was so happy with the way he came out of the Curragh. Gillian Scott, trainer

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Gillian Scott, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Red Hugh O'Donnell, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Gillian Scott stated that her charge favoured this track, that today's better ground and a change in tactics from the last run may have brought about the apparent improvement in form today. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the report
The Raceday Stewards wished to hold an enquiry into where it appeared that Galley Point, ridden by K.J. Leonard, clipped a heel and fell on the flat.
