D. Browne McMonagle, rider of That's No Joke, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got tight for room a furlong and a half down
M.W. Hassett, rider of Gas Works Wall, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received a bump leaving the stalls
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident approximately 200 yards from the finish involving That's No Joke, ridden by D. Browne McMonagle, unplaced, and Stock Market (GB), ridden by Freya Frain, placed fourth, where it appeared That's No Joke got tight for room on the railing. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned
D. Browne McMonagle stated that he could see the incident happening and let a shout to the rider. Freya Frain stated that her mount hung left after her first application of the whip but accepted she should have straightened her mount up before using the whip again. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found Freya Frain was in breach of Rule 214 in that she had ridden carelessly, and having considered her clean record in this regard, they suspended her for two racedays. The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident leaving the stalls involving Stock Market (GB), ridden by Freya Frain, placed fourth, Saxon Grace, ridden by C.T. Keane, unplaced, and Gas Works Wall, ridden by M.W. Hassett, unplaced, where it appeared Saxon Grace jumped left bumping Stock Market who in turn bumped Gas Works Wall. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
An extended handicap for two years old only (70 = 9st 12lbs) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
