THE CHESTER ROman DAY ON 30TH MAY APPRENTICE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) (GBBPLUS RACE) Permission was given for both Nightsinwhitesatin (GB) and Renesmee (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
An enquiry was held to consider interference at the 3-furlong marker on the first circuit involving Oman (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Zak Wheatley, L’EAGLE AID (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Ashley Lewis, Secret Beach (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Luke Dace, and Nightsinwhitesatin (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Toby Moore.
All riders were accompanied in the enquiry by a Jockey Coach.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Oman (IRE) edged slightly left-handed at the same time as L’EAGLE AID (IRE) improved quickly to his inside which resulted in his mount being moved marginally left- handed and subsequently carrying Secret Beach (IRE) onto the rail resulting in Moore having to take a check on Nightsinwhitesatin (GB).
Approximately 2 furlongs out, Dance Time (GB), unplaced, was checked when short of room on the rail following its rider attempting to take an ambitious gap to the inside of Siouxfonic (IRE), unplaced, which was lugging slightly left-handed, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong involving Nightsinwhitesatin (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Toby Moore, and Siouxfonic (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Patrick Harnett.
Being a 7Ib Claiming Apprentice, Moore was accompanied in the enquiry by a Jockey Coach.
Moore was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he drifted left-handed leaving Siouxfonic (IRE) short of room on the rail.
Patrick Harnett, the rider of Siouxfonic (IRE), unplaced, beaten by a short head for sixth place had failed to ride out to the winning post having suffered interference inside the final furlong.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Harnett was suspended for 1 day for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures on a horse that could have finished sixth.
Harnett was accompanied in the enquiry a Jockey Coach.
Following the race, Patrick Harnett reported that Siouxfonic (IRE), unplaced, suffered interference inside the final ½ furlong.
