Following the race, Callum Shepherd reported that Papa Cocktail (IRE), unplaced, began to run freely down the back straight when the early pace slackened, so he opted to take his time and hope for a run up the inner once in the home straight.
He explained that once he had a clear run, Papa Cocktail (IRE) picked up well and was making ground when he checked, anticipating a gap closing when City Cyclone (GB), placed third, appeared to be edging left-handed into his path, which resulted him losing momentum in the closing stages.
