The Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Rest Your Mind, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, and trained by John E. & Thomas Kiely. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. J.A. Heffernan stated that he had rode this horse before and his instructions were to get his mount relaxed and finish out her race
He added that the horse he was behind in the early stages ran very keen and this lit his animal up. He further added that in the closing stages he couldn't switch out as there was horses there so he switched her back in and she ran on well to the line. Thomas Kiely confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who reported the animal to be showing signs that she may be coming in to season. Samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanations offered
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Thru And Thru, trained by Rory Anthony Devine, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have bitten her tongue.
For three years old and upwards, maidens at starting Weights - 3-y-o 9st 8lbs 4-y-o and up 9st 10lbs. Fillies allowed 5lbs.
