An enquiry was held to consider interference on the run to the line, involving Beaming Light (GB), placed second, ridden by Lewis Edmunds, Mao Shang Wong (IRE), placed third, ridden by David Nolan, ERNIE’S VALENTINE, placed fifth, ridden by Phoebe Edwards, Latin (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Paddy Bradley, and Toralou (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Joe Leavy.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Edwards was offered the opportunity to be accompanied but declined.
The interference was found to be accidental as Beaming Light (GB) which, having been corrected from hanging right-handed, then shifted left-handed leaving an advancing Mao Shang Wong (IRE) to become momentarily short of room and to have to move right-handed as a result.
The knock on effect of this was that ERNIE’S VALENTINE became short of room between Mao Shang Wong (IRE) and Latin (IRE) to the outside, which had edged left-handed at the same time, causing Leavy to take a precautionary check on Toralou (IRE), which had come to the end of its run.
Following the race, David Nolan reported that Mao Shang Wong (IRE), placed third, hung right- handed.
