The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the home bend involving Master Of The Sums (GB), ridden by Mr Alan O'Sullivan, who came down on the flat, Nettuno Italia, ridden by S. R. Markey, placed fifth, and Mellem, ridden by T. E. O'Connor, unplaced, where it appeared Master Of The Sums ran short of room and came down
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S. R. Markey stated that he maintained his racing line. Mr. Alan O'Sullivan stated that the horse on his inner came out and took his line. T. E. O'Connor stated that he thought the horse on his outside had retreated quicker then it actually had but he accepted that he had taken the ground of the horse on his outside. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found T. E. O'Connor was in breach of Rule 214, in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended T. E. O'Connor for ten racedays
