Formscan By Alan Magee - SUMMER SANDS was purchased for 625,000 guineas at the Newmarket Horses In Training Sale last autumn and gets the vote here on his first start for Joseph O’Brien. The son of Coach House gave previous connections another good payday when landing the valuable Two-Year-Old Trophy on testing ground at Redcar. However, his strongest piece of form came on a much sounder surface when third to Earthlight in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes. Joseph’s father Aidan probably provides two of the chief threats in Pistoletto and Southern Hills, who has been absent since landing the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot nearly 12 months ago. Pistoletto was kept quite busy last year winning twice including at this venue and signed off the campaign when just denied in the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket.
